San Joaquin Outdoor Education Program
2011 | San Joaquin County Office of EducationThe San Joaquin Outdoor Education program (SJOE) is a week-long residential outdoor school focusing on environmental education. The program serves roughly 150 students and 18 high school cabin leaders weekly. Fifth and sixth graders from San Joaquin County and beyond come to Camp Jones Gulch, in La Honda, California to learn about the natural world while working together as members of a community. The unique landscape offers many opportunities for students to learn, observe and appreciate nature at its finest. SJOE Naturalists teach about the land, sea and air through the following eight ecological concepts: Adaptations, Change, Diversity, Communities, Ecosystem, Cycles and Interdependence.
