The Skiera Fund provides financial support for projects which will help arborists and urban foresters communicate the value of trees and urban forests in communities across the country. The fund was created to honor the work of Bob Skiera, past president of both the International Society of Arboriculture and the Wisconsin Arborist Association and former Milwaukee City Forester. Bob was an urban forestry pioneer, known for his ability to communicate the needs and benefits of the urban forest to developers, policy makers, city planners and citizens.
To ensure that his vision lives on, a memorial was created at the Tree Research and Education Fund with gifts from ISA Members, chapters and others who wanted to honor Bob’s gifts to the profession. The Wisconsin Arborist Association made a lead gift of $75,000. Our goal is to raise $500,000 which will endow the “Building Bridges Initiative” to foster better communication of urban forestry principals and practices to urban planning and development professionals.
