Agricultural education is very important to me. I have been a very active 4-H and FFA Member over the last nine years, showing livestock, participating in many Career Development Event competitions, and holding several officer positions, including President of my 4-H Club, the largest club in Hartford County. As a sophomore in high school I was a member of the gold medal team at the FFA National Convention in the Nursery Landscape competition. During my time in FFA I have pursued knowledge and taken advantage of opportunities to enhance my learning, with the goal of becoming a licensed arborist. I assisted with a tree survey for the town of Suffield, CT and took the Connecticut Accredited Nursery Professional Course. I have been described by advisors and mentors as highly motivated and hard working. It is true that when I set my mind to something, I will seek the knowledge needed to achieve my goal. I am currently restoring a 1946 John Deere Tractor, and learning about agricultural and other mechanical systems. This summer I am working with Bartlett Tree Experts as an intern. Your generous scholarship is very much appreciated, allowing me to focus on my studies at the University of New Hampshire in the Forest Technologies Program. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and contributing to the health and safety of the Urban Forests and Landscapes in Connecticut.
