Thank You, ACRT!
Thank you to ACRT of Akron, OH for its gift of $25,000 to the TREE Fund to support biomechanics research. Tree biomechanics is a hot research topic in arboriculture, and the TREE Fund has funded several diverse projects. Dr. Brian Kane’s recently completed study of the impact of decay on the structural integrity of trees was supported by a $100,000 TREE Fund Research Fellowship. The TREE Fund also sponsored the 2012 Tree Risk Assessment Symposium at the Morton Arboretum. Most recently, tree researchers from around the world collaborated with NASA scientists on a high-tech tree biomechanics project at the Morton Arboretum, supported by a $10,000 John Z. Duling research grant from the TREE Fund.
