Historic “Great Trees” returning to New York City

Today marks the return of the clones to New York City. It’s not a science fiction movie, but rather 21st century science in action–the first genetic clones of significant and historic Central Park trees are coming home and are being planted this morning in Van Cortlandt Park.

This fascinating and innovative project was a collaboration between the TREE Fund, Bartlett Tree Experts, NYRP, John Bowne High School, Coleman®,  Schichtels Nursery Oregon, NYC Parks, NY Tree Trust, and MillionTreesNYC–all united by the ambitious vision to clone New York City’s aging historic trees and populate the five boroughs with their offspring.
