Norm Hall Memorial Fund

Norm Hall Memorial Fund for Education and Training

In November 2023, following the death of world-renowned trainer Norman “Norm” Hall, an Illinois Arborist Association (IAA) board member (and past IAA president), the current IAA board approached TREE Fund with a desire to honor Norm’s memory. Donations have been accumulating with TREE Fund and after  conversations with Norm’s widow Kathy, the IAA board has decided to allocate the funds as outlined below. Norm Hall was well-known for his training, especially his sessions featuring hands-on, practical work with attendees. Following a conversation with a workshop attendee who had reached out to Norm, sharing that if he had not attended one of Norm’s workshops just a few weeks prior, one of his employees would have lost their life. Norm shifted his internal count from the number of workshops offered to the number of potential lives saved.

It is with this aspiration to save the lives of as many arborists and tree care workers as possible that drove Norm, and that is the inspiration for this fund.

The Norm Hall Memorial Fund supports hands-on arboriculture training opportunities administered by the Illinois Arborist Association. Funds from the endowment may be used to help reduce the cost of these training opportunities for arborists and tree workers. Individuals interested in learning more about training opportunities supported by this fund should contact the Illinois Arborist Association.
