IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

Did you know you can make a tax-free gift directly from your IRA?

If you are age 70½ or older, you may be able to make a tax-efficient gift directly from your IRA to TREE Fund. You can transfer up to $100,000 per year from your IRA to a qualified charity like TREE Fund without including the distribution in your taxable income.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) can be a powerful way to support our mission while meeting retirement account requirements. You may be able to reduce your taxable income, lower your adjusted gross income, and/or minimize the taxability of Social Security benefits. This can help you manage your cash flow and more effectively align with your retirement planning and philanthropic goals. By directly transferring funds from your IRA to a charity like TREE Fund, you can maximize the impact of your donation, ensuring that the full amount is used for charitable purposes without being diminished by income taxes.

We are grateful for donors who choose to give through their IRA. Your QCD helps us continue our mission and ensures your generosity has the greatest possible impact.

For questions regarding your donation, and information to provide to your IRA custodian, please contact Heath Hupke at hhupke@treefund.org or 630-369-8300.
